Biography Reenay Tenarvitz, 52, of Dunlap, IL, passed away at 7:45 p.m. on Friday, July 29, 2005 at Rosewood Care Center in Peoria, with her family and friends by her side. Reenay was born on February 3, 1953 in Dodge City, KS, daughter of Clarence and Augusta “Dusty” Kurtz Kruger. She was formerly married to Paul Tenarvitz of Peoria. Reenay is survived by her son: Adam Frink of Dunlap, her mother: Augusta “Dusty” Redding and her husband Bill of Florida, her sister: Ursula Simmons and her husband Greg of Garland, TX, her brother: Leon Kruger of California, brother-in-law: Ron Frink and his partner Steve Robinson, sister-in-law: Sharon Ostrowski and her husband Ed of Muskego, WI. Her father preceded her in death. Reenay received her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse from New Mexico State University. She was a graduate of Illinois Central College’s Registered Nursing Program. Reenay was a Horticulture Consultant who designed and maintained the landscaping for Maui Jim in Peoria. She attended Northwoods Community Church in Peoria. In younger years Reenay enjoyed art and painting. Later, she enjoyed spending time in the Southwest, at Rock Island Trail, in plant nurseries, and at Maui Jim. She enjoyed listening to jazz music, gardening, jogging, spending time in nature and collecting Southwestern pottery and art. She was creative, had a caring nature and strong will - and could be stubborn at times. Her son, pets, gardens, and friends were the things most important to her in her life. A Celebration of Life Service was held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2005 at her church, with the Rev. Tim Reist officiating. Steve Wilmert performed "Be Still and Know" and "I Can Only Imagine". A short story that Reenay wrote, while in college, was read by Adam, Vicki Styck and Greg Nelson. Greg also had a special tribute to Reenay. A visitation was held one hour prior to the services. Through the generous donation of Maui Jim, everyone was able to receive an outdoor perennial at the conclusion of the service to plant in memory of Reenay. Cremation rites were accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rose Funds at the National Foundation for Cancer Research, 4600 East West Highway, Suite 525, Bethesda, MD 20814-6900. Arrangements were handled by Clary Funeral Consultants, 1625 West Candletree Drive, Peoria, IL, 61614, 309-689-0166, claryfunerals.com |
